Default Rear vent search

I have a 2004 RX with tan interior. Any ideas on getting one rear vent? My grandson broke the swivel louvers in one of them and the dealer wants $230 to replace the whole vent console unit as he said you could not just purchase a vent. The vent is easily removed and a new one can be easily installed, help please!

tromly, here is the part information on the vents.

http://www.*******.com/parts/p_U_200...AGKA_5806.html

Oops, I guess this link is not allowed. There is a website out there to look up Lexus parts. From there ...

Possibly you can call around and see who can give you the best price. If it's any consolation, a neighbor's son threw up into the vents in his RX. He ran over to me to ask how to take the console apart - I couldn't help him. I never found out what he did...

Good luck.

I had to enter my VIN to do a search but it looks like the website is banned here. I'll send PM.

Sorry I can't help after all I would go back to the dealer and have them look up the part you need. Ask them for the part number and then call/search online for your best deal. Price difference between dealers can be huge.

Good luck.

do you have a picture of what you need and do you know if one from a 2007 rx350 will work?

No pics, but it's the little rectangular vent at the rear of the console. They are both the same, left and right, they pop out with a screw driver. A 2007 RX with the tan interior would work. My grandson broke the little louver control which controls the air direction, just need to replace the vent and it will be good to go. Thanks

The vent is the same for all the RX330~RX350's 2004 through 2009's. Just need the color right.

Yup, that's a tough one. Can you not repair the vent? Think hard. It should be repairable. Post a pic, we'll take a look and suggest,

Don't think it's repairable, the vent itself is still intact but the little adjusting part has broken so a person in the backseat cannot orient the air direction, The little louvers inside the vent itself have broken, made of plastic, can't glue or use glue gun. To a normal person, no big deal, to a true Lexus lover who wants to keep his cars in a100% operational mode, it's **** !!

I truly understand what you feel! Well, does the grandson know what he can and can not do next time?

Remove the spaces in the following URL after cutting and pasting it into the address field of a web browser to see the page tromly tried to provide earlier: http://www.t o y o d i y.com/parts/p_U_2004_LEXUS_RX330~350_MCU38L-CWAGKA_5806.html

Be sure to check that above "t o y o d i y" page is for the country where your RX was manufactured. The vent appears to be different depending on where your car was assembled ... go to the home page of "t o y o d i y" and start over if necessary to select the right country of manufacture.

The price of the vent assemblies regardless of country of manufacture on http://www.parts.com/lexus/lexus-parts.cfm appears to be the same - $107.86 - but check closely ... I may have gotten it wrong. The parts description on parts.com will also tell you which country of manufacture the specific air vent assembly is for.
