Default Fuel light - (2007)

I know my 2007 has a fuel tank capacity of +/- 19 gallons. Once my fuel indicator light comes on, how much gas do I have left in my tank...how far can I go?
Thanks for the help.

easy, go fill up your tank when the light comes on, subtract that number from the total capacity of the tank, then figure out your mileage and apply it to the remaining gallons of fuel.

its just as easy to keep the top half ful as it is the bottom half

I have a 2007 RX and ran it very close to dry. I figured that at best after the check fuel light came on, I had 60 miles remaining.

I believe the owners manual says something close to around 40 miles max when the light comes on.

Toyota by default when the fuel light goes on, there is about 3 gals left in the tank. Depending on your driving style mileage obtain after fuel light goes on may vary

My tank holds 19.2 gallons. When the light goes on I can put about 17 gallons in the tank so that leaves me with about 2.2 gallons in reserve. 2.2 gallons will allow me to drive 40-50 miles. My RX is an 04 and YMMV.

Same here, I would never go over 50 miles though just to be safe.

I try not to let any of my vehicles get low enough to even see if the light works.. Running out of gas would be too embarrassing..

I've driven more than 60 miles with fuel light on but did have a emergency gas in the trunk
just in case.

I never let the RX get that low but my commuter Accord gets to the light often when I work late and the stations are closed. The accord will get me a 60 mile round trip with out running out. I try not to go past 50 miles when the light comes on. My other cars are about the same, never ran out keeping 50 miles as a target to fill up when the light comes on.

In my RX 400h with 17 gallons tank I can pump in 14 gallons after the Fuel light is ON (i.e. there are 3 gallons left in the tank). So, the number of miles left depends on MPG (max miles = 3*MPG).

Thats actually pretty good^^^^....To me it seems like I can't go far after the light comes on. Kinda depends on the vehicle.

i wasnt aware the second gen rx's had a low fuel light? I dont think the non hybrid ones like mine do as i let mine get pretty close to empty a few times and i never saw any fuel light come on; so the only thing that let me know how far i have left is the cruising range. The odd thing though is I had 2 first gen rx300';s and they both had low fuel lights but nothing that gave me the estimated cruising range in miles.
