Has anyone ever bought one of these service manuals on CD from ebay? I didn't even know they had them on CD?

Yes, I bought one a year ago. It seemed like a great deal. But when I got it I used my virus scanner and its said it had viruses. So, I did not use it.

I would recommend buying one from an actual dealer who can be trusted.

 

CD's on ebay are not legit. Beware.

 

viruses? arent they just PDF files on a CD, how can that infect a computer? ive bought them for various vehicles and they do the job...

 

CD/DVD service manuals are generally not pdf's. They are in proprietary formats, and require specific software to search and read them. My gm service manual runs as a web application, so it's got a web server (Tomcat) and an application as well as the single 1.2gb data file.

 

Good info Kendig, people who buy on EBAY must always be cautious. I've had several friends purchase infected CDs !

 

This CD/DVD with service manuals is realy not expencive, but as you said there is viruses, that's not good.
DOes anyone know some FTP or checked shop, wehere i can get good manuals without viruses ?

I also need some user manuals fpr RX300 if that is possible to get.

Not all software on ebay is infected. Look for a seller with good feedback and no negatives. before purchase, contact seller and ask for guarantee not infected (not a sure thing, but useful if you have to submit a paypal claim). Before first mounting the cd/dvd turn off autorun for the drive, and then tell your antivirus software to scan it. Be sure your virus definitions are up to date. After install, do not run the software immediately; first do a full system scan with your av program.
