Default Rx 330 questions

Hey Guys,
I'm looking to buying an Rx 330 in the next couple with around 60,000-80,000 miles on it. And I am wondering what issues should I look out for with a car that has that many miles?

I will be looking at a 2005 and above model. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Adam

Well i bought an 05 a month ago with 63k on it and so far so good. There are the ongoing issues with the RX as far as creaks and squeaks but from what i understand that is just something all RX's have. I would recommend going with a CPO vehicle that way atleast you have a warranty. The tranny has a shifting issue which i also understand is just one of those things that an RX owner has to live with. It just takes a few seconds for the tranny to shift into gear when accelerating, I wouldnt say it is a safety issue though, but I understand the dealer can reflash the computer and that can solve that ongoing problem. I hope this helps.

thanks for the reply. Going from a Jeep Cherokee which was my last suv,to a Rx with creaks and squeaks is definitely an improvement!

as a 2004 RX330 owner with 96K miles, i have not had a single creak or rattle. so i would recommend you buy a 2004 or 2005, because they were made in Japan and to some this makes a difference.

So 2004 models are ok? Even though they are the first year of the re-design?

I thought this is a drive by wire issue that happens to a lot of the Toyota, Scion Cars ?I know I had it on my 05 Scion tC. I felt it on a '07 RX dealer's loaner but did not feel the delay throttle response on a 08 RX dealer loaner car

well it depends per car, but i found my 2004 just as solid as newer loaner RXs.

However, if you plan to get one wth nav, the 2004 did not come with bluetooth, that was added in 2005. just fyi in case you were expecting that tech

Some of the 04's and 05's and maybe more years, RX330's were made in Japan. Mine's made in Canada.

Some say Japan made were built better, could be true on some occassions, but not all.

Toyota lost a lot of money this year, because 45% of the cars they have sold here are made from Japan. And the Yen vs US $ appreciation was so huge, they were losing money hand over fist.

Toyota Japan had over capacity, Toyota US had over capacity...the result, just like GM...too much inventory.

Good Luck with the TC, they are unique and few and far between. There were like about only 6,500 made total, and only 500 in the Thundercloud Metallic color, all the rest being Flint Mica. We love ours and even when our Dealer made us a great trade in offer (for a new 2010 RX), we opted to keep the TC for now. There were a lot of TC topics in this forum some years back, if you use the search engine, there is a wealth of information about them.
