Default Seats Hurting My Back

I'm a tall guy but not that wide. I have a new 2009 RX. Tight fit, but fit. After a recently long trip I felt an aching pain in my back-- both sides around the back of my ribs. Not painful but achy. Later it felt aching underneath. I thought maybe it was my kidneys. It went away and came back. Then I started to think. What is new in my life that has been touching the area? The new RX. Hey, I'm a genius. I noticed that the center of the seat back is narrow, then it wings in-- touching that exact spot. Could this be the cause?

Hey, I know that Lexus engineers had to be all over the seat. I know there have been years and years of RX's without seat complaints.

It's weird how the car seats hit the exact spot, but it can't be.... can it?

Have you tried adjusting the lumbar support?

I find that the RX 400h made in Japan has a a softer leather than the RX350 that made in Canada. Even though they look and feel exactly the same, the RX that made in Japan is not as stiff as the one that made in canada.

That IS possible, and most likely the cause. Have you been strenuously exercising lately? Anyways, it is nothing to worry about unless it persists for more than a few weeks. Your body has to "adjust" to new seats. If it fits, then there is nothing to worry about. A few aches will go away once your body is used to your new sitting position. Try adjusting, like Jas said, your lumbar support and your seat in all new directions and see what works the best.

Thanks guys. Great responses.

I have been fiddling with the lumbar support. Initially I thought having it forward would give me support. Maybe that was the cause. I have now moved it way back (even though it makes me feel kinda like a wet noodle), thinking it would cause less pressure on the kidney-to-seat area.

You mean I have to adjust to the seats? Ha ha. For $40,000 I would hope that the seats would adjust to me!
