Default Programming duplicate keys

Does anyone know how to program the transponder in the key fob to match the vehicles security system. Everyone says take it to the dealer or locksmiths. Locksmiths say they cannot do it and go to dealer. Any one have a DYI method.
Thanks to all:
BTW - I have both a RX 300 - 189000 miles flawless service never a problem and a newer RX330 2004. Again a flawless automobile with 90000 and got a good deal and it is flawless.

You must take it to the dealer. Did you try Google?

I have key's program for a RX:

Programming Procedure #21485
1. Drivers door open, all other doors closed, key removed from ignition switch.
2. Within 5 seconds insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice.
3. Within 40 seconds close and open driver's door twice.
4. Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch.
5. Within 40 seconds close and open driver's door twice.
6. Insert the key into the ignition switch and close the driver's door.
7. Switch ignition on and off,
a) Once to program a remote transmitter code while retaining the original codes.
b) Twice to program a remote transmitter code while erasing the original codes.
c) Three times to check how many remote transmitters are currently registered.
d) Five times to erase all registered codes.
8. Remove key from ignition switch.
9. System should now lock and unlock vehicle. Once, twice or five times depending which mode has been selected. One to four times, slowly, to indicate number of remote transmitters registered.
10. Within 40 seconds press and hold lock and unlock key remote transmitter buttons, together, for 1.5 seconds.
11. Within 3 seconds press any key remote transmitter button.
12. System should now lock and unlock vehicle. Once to confirm registration, or twice to indicate registration has failed.
13. Within 40 seconds repeat steps 11 and 12 to program remaining remote transmitters.
***** To exit programming mode: Open driver's door or insert ignition key.
***** A maximum of 4 key remote transmitters can be programmed.

I got it when I buy a key on ebay, However I have not tried yet( a dealer did for me).

I just did my 02 ls430. I just got it and it had 1 key only picked up another master with transponder and another key/shell for my original for 87.00 at Midwest keyless.
Took to my local locksmith he cut them both 28.00 ea. I got progrm instructions from midwest keyless and the locksmith had alldata instructions.

It took an hour to figure out that the instructions were off a bit.

This is what I did to get the immobilizer recognize the key. This worked the 1st try
*drivers door closed, key removed from ignition
*insert programmed remote into ignition switch
*within 35 sec
*turn ignitiontion switch ON and To ACC 5 times ( the directions said on/and off but that didn't work so tried on and to ACC)
* Open and close drivers door 6 times {Watch door light on dash)
*Remove key from ignition
*within 10 Sec insert key to be programmed
*after 1 min immobilizer light will extinguish
key should be able to start car

Let me know if that works . A max of 5 black keys and 3 gray keys can be programmed
There is a way to see how many the computer has programmed

Bring it to a locksmith...or the dealer...try the former 1st. The dealer depending on the time of day, can screw you all he wants...hope not. With car sales so slow...they better shape up.

On the newer models, it must be done by a dealership. This includes the 330.

They typically use a handheld scan tool (or tablet computer - sometimes the same thing) hooked to your car. The computer "calls up" Lexus via the internet and verifies the dealer authorization code, at which time the Lexus corporate network provides the necessary code to program your car to accept the new key(s).

Interesting system, but it does mean that no non-authorized party can program the car to take additional keys. This is obviously both an advantage and a disadvantage.

I have a 2006 GX470 and can't get any ignition programming instructions to work.

(I was able to program the door locks just fine).

Does my car fall into the newer model category where i'm screwed and I need to go to the dealer to program the key to turn the ignition?

Thanks.

Can the system be used to deactivate a lost key?

We inadvertently gave the valet key to the buyer of our old RX. For various reasons, it is not possible to recover the key from the buyer. Although we doubt the buyer even realizes what they have, we would still feel better if it was deactivated (even though it will still open the doors).

It does not look OE. It's shipping from Hong Kong, indicating this is some factory in China exporting OE replica. For $99 you can probably pay a locksmith to do the same and probably less

Try this web site. I purchased a remote transmitter for my sons Corolla there and found a lot of other info about keys and remotes.
