Hi all,
I am a loong time Toyota owner but now have a new to me 2005 RX330. What a nice ride!!! I am considering buying a second set of rims for winter tires and came across a set of factory SC430 Rims for sale...17inch 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 45mm offset. I read that the rim size on the RX330 is 17 x 6.5 J?
Can anyone tell me if they would be a suitable fit ? I dont want to have to recalibrate the speedo or anything like that. Since they are a bit fancier than the stock rims I think I will put winter boots on the stock set and something with summer performance on the new ones...if they fit.
They will fit. Just to be sure what is the width of the SC rims? I wouldn't worry about the speedo. It may be off a tad, but it will more than likely be within manufacturer tolerance. I had oversize rims and tires of 255/50/20 and according to a GPS my speedometer was only off by about 2 MPH at 60. Police Laser guns are accurate to within + or - 1 MPH. Nothing is perfect so being that you probably wouldn't run as oversize tires as I did, you will probably be within 1 MPH at 60.
I believe your 05 RX has 225/65-17 tires mounted on 17x7.5 wheels with a 10mm offset and a 118 mm backspace.
All the OEM wheels I've ever seen on an SC430, going all the way back to 2002 are 18". Are you sure they are 17" wheels or are they not really OEM SC430 wheels your looking at? The older SC400 used to have 16" wheels. I've never seen them make a 17" wheel option for the SC series.
The RX 17" rims should be a 17X6.5" rim with a +35mm offset, and the 18's are 18X7 with a +35mm offset. If the OP finds out exactly what SC rim he is trying to fit and what width and offset it is, it should be very easy from that information to determine if he has enough backspacing to clear.

The rims are stated as being factory rims from a SC430 but there is no way to tell if they are actually OEM or whatever...So I guess I will have to determine the width ...and verify that they are 17” rather than 18”I know that they have a 45mm offset...is there a standard maximum width the RX can accept? Is a 45mm offset okay?
I think I may put a deposit on them and take them to a tire dealer to make sure they will work
T0 be honest, I think you would need a spacer to run the +45mm offset rims in pretty much any width except for something like a 6.5" wide rim. I base this off of my rims which were an 8.5" width with a +20mm offset. I barely had enough back spacing clearance. I had maybe a 1/4" of room left. Based on that, a 6.5" wide rim with a +45mm offset would have the same back spacing clearance that my 8.5" +20 offset rims had. Fronts would be no problem though as I had a lot of room there, but the rear is tight. Perhaps a 7" wide would be okay with a narrower tire than I used, but its going to be close.
I think its going to be a no go unless you can test fit them first and/or you don't mind running spacers.
