Default Is that "Hesitation" a common problem? No way to fix it?

I recently perchased a 2004 RX330. I feel the throttle(gas pedal) is very soft. when stepping on it takes about a 1/4 of a second before the engine responds. It becomes very annoying in traffic. I did some reseach online, it seems normal. Do I have to adapt to it?

Each machine is different ... it takes a bit to get used to it. Keep in mind the RX is not a speed demon and it takes a while to get it going.

Is there slack in the cable? Spec requires a bit of slack, but you can take it out by adjusting at the engine end. See Lexmex's mod in RX300 forum.

You may like to check with Dealership and they may have software update for transmission.

Rx 330 trottle body is electronic wired the trottle response is 100% acurrate there is no way for a delay..there is no steel wire like in old model cars.... if you feel a delay you should take it to service let a mechanic test drive they wil tell you if is ok..if is needed theyll might flash your computer.

DBW= Drive by wire which is all electrical. Most Lexus/Toyotas are going that way. Even my DD 2005 Corolla is DBW. I think I saw a blitz unit to enhance DBW response. Ill have to look for it.

Is the ECU adaptive? I'm willing to bet it is. Disconnect the battery. Turn the key "on" and step on the brake pedal. Reconnect the battery and drive aggressively for a tank or two of fuel. I'd be willing to bet your gas pedal will feel much more responsive.

The computer real reset is a factory flash only from service dept. at lexus......(( Boognish))) if you want power aks (((jet performance))) if they have the ship for the rx or a set up to increase the engine equalization to a higher rpm like 8000 rpm so the vvti has more time of effectivity....the rx's ones the vvti kiks and about 200 extra rpm then you feel hesitation thats the equalization.....<<<thats engine safety cutting off preventing you from damage your engine>>>>after ((jet)) add k&n filter nice cold intake, down pipe street legal cat converter magna flow exaust sys. youll be straight not too much just what you want (((POWER)))

I can't say for certain on a Lexus, but I can say for certain on a Subaru and Honda OBDII computers. The only reason it wouldn't work is if Lexus has a separate battery for the ECU somewhere, otherwise, draining the system power of the vehicle effectively "reboots" the computer.

sup lexio,
I have absolutely not intention of increasing the power on my RX350. In my opinion, it's got WAY more power than necessary given the brakes and suspension.

Did you do it the way described by boognish in #6 above? How about posting back here is a couple of weeks and tell us if the fix lasted. My experience is the computer tends to go back to its old ways after a few weeks of driving.

Does it have to do with the temp, because mine has always been resonponsive till today I left outside in 19 degree F weather over night and its seems really lazy today and steering felt weird at first. Maybe its mad at me
