Default Leaky rear calipers

I just had 4 new tires installed on the wife's "05 RX 330 (not at the dealership). The installer told me that he noticed some wetness on the rear wheels. He inspected the caliper, took off the dust boot and a few drops of brake fluid dripped out (on both sides). These brakes were just inspected by the dealer about 4 months ago and they told me I was going to need new pads..though not immediately (I waited to do it myself...and btw, the tire installer informed me that I still had a fair amount of pad left on both sides). Anyone else had this problem w/ leaky calipers? The car has roughly 30k+ miles on it. I suppose that if indeed there are leaks, this should be covered under warranty item? Thanks.

If the seals are leaking, then it's a dealer issue. I'd just make an appointment, tell them that the tire guy saw brake fluid and that you want them to check it out. Should be no big deal for them. Seeing as it's the brakes it shouldn't be something that you wait and see about that's for sure.

I cruise the RX forums on a regular basis and your post about leaking calipers is the first that I recall. As suggested, I would have the dealer look at this. As a side note, I am surprised that you need new pads. Leaky calipers can be dangerous since they may contaminate the pads and reduce braking to nil.

We are still 5-10000 miles away from needing pads on our 05 with 44000 miles. Of course, this is my wife's car and she drives like a granny.
