Default Update Navigation CD on a RX330

Can anyone tell me how to install an updated Navigation CD in a 2004 RX-330? I can buy one from a local dealer for about $270 but they want $75 to install.

I would check with Sewell Lexus or one of the other online Lexus dealers to see what the price is on the DVD. Last I heard last year was around $160. for the update DVD. The installation is fairly simple and straight forward, just once you install the new one there is no going back.

2005 RX330 Thundercloud, Thundercloud Mist, Gray/Black interior with Black Birdseye Maple, NAV, ML, HID with AFS, Rain Sensing Wipers, Tow Package with OEM Hitch, 18 in. Thundercloud rims with Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's.

I think it depends on the year. newer models at least, the nav dvd reader in the 350 is in the rear, under the spart tire tool tray. same general idea tho

If memory serves, after you push the slider button over, you need to push the eject button (it was revealed after you slide the button over).

If you don't see an ejector, yours may be a model where there isn't an eject button. be sure to have the ignition in the ON or ACC position when you slide the slider button. The dvd may pop out just by sliding the slider.

After you slide the lever over, look for the eject button.

I'm out. On our RX350, you just slide the button to the left and after about 3-5 seconds the dvd pops out. The ejector buttons on the old models were small but surely you'd see it if there was one. May be time to call the dealer or stop by to see if there is an unobvious trick. Surely there isn't a touchscreen eject button. That's how my GS works but never heard of one on RX.

Assuming there is really a dvd in there the only other thing I can suggest is disconnecting the battery for a few minutes or disconnect the main plug on the back of the nav dvd reader. then reconnect. that will cause the system to reboot and reload the firmware. Then try the slider switch.

PS. Disconnecting the battery may lose some seat or radio presets. don't know.

Default '04 Lexus RX330 - Navigation Question

Good Afternoon;
Can anyone tell me how you go about purchasing/aquiring the Navigation software for an '04 RX330? I haven't got a clue where to start on this one as I just purchased the vehicle for my wife. Also (while I'm at it), can anyone comment as to the quality of the transmissions of the 2004 RX330's? This vehicle has only got about 40K on it, but there seems to be a bit of a "slip" when the vehicle goes from 2nd to 3rd gear while driving in the city.
Thanks in advance, dan
