Default 04 head light question

I have an 04 RX330 and I think all 04 are like this but I have two sets of lights. The regular day lights and the halogen lights that switch over at dusk and night. Can I change out the regular day lights to halogen that way they will be the same 24/7? If so is there a certain size I need? Thanks!

The DRL's are halogen, but shine at a lower intensity than your highbeams. You can probably change the bulb, but you wouldn't have highbeams.

Thanks. BTW I'm a woman so I don't know all the fancy terms you guys use...lol. I've seen some RXs with the DRL on that are different than mine. (I hope I am calling it the right thing when I say halogen) because my DRL are not the same as my night lights. DRL are the old fashioned headlight bulbs. Whereas the night time lights are the white/purplish brighter lights. Thanks for all your help!

There are several lamps on the market that will replace your high beams - Silverstars by Phillips are a pretty good match for the light blue color temperature of your HID's, and available online or at your local auto supply. Shop around, but as a woman, you already have that instinct in your DNA. You might want to consider replacing your fog light lamps at the same time with a similar product.

Now, your DRL's are the same as your high-beam lamps, but just wired in series to cut output by 50% (while boosting lamp life) during daylight use. Changing lamps won't really do much to change the color temp of a 12v lamp operating at 6v. That's OK, you'll look like everyone else with DRL's on the road during daylight hours - at least the color difference isn't so noticeable then.

Your headlights are HID and DRL is halogen. You cannot change the DRL to HID to match your headlight, but you can find some tinted halogen to match the headlights better. The DRL and the highlights do not come on at the same time, so why even worry about matching colors.

- I know its just something that bugs me. Plus I like the newer look with the blueish/purple effect.

So if I get the Silverstars by Phillips...this will have the effect I'm looking for correct?

Thanks guys!

The high beam on a 04 RX use 9005 bulbs. You can get the Sylvania Silverstar ultra from most auto part stores. Hoen is another line of bulbs that some european cars use to output whiter light. You can order Hoen bulbs online. The hoens xenonmatch plus line will have a closer match to the HID color wise than the Silverstars.

If you are going to change the bulb yourself, remember not to touch the glass part of the bulb with your bare hands.
