Default 2004 vs 2005 NAVI difference

What are the differences besides lack of bluetooth capability on 2004 models equipped with NAV? Does 2004 NAV have voice recognition?

Any other differences?

i don't know the differences between the two but the 04 is a generation 3 and the 05 is a generation 4 system. i'm sure there are differences but i have not seen a generation 4 navi system, so don't know.

2004 has no mic, so no voice recog of any kind.

we have Gen 3 in our 04 RX and Gen 4 in our GS, and i can say comparing the two that the Gen 4 appears to be so much grainier in appearance for whatever reason (it is almost as if the resolution went down, but i dont' think it did technically). i also feel that the reaction time (button lag) in Gen 4 is slower than Gen 3, perhaps because there are more features?

call me crazy, but i prefer the look of Gen 3 better, although the added bluetooth of Gen 4 is very useful. VR is a waste, it barely understands anything you say, so if that is important to you, don't bother. and many times simple commands take you 3 or more words with pauses in between to do something that requires 1 button push.

there is also a software hack you can do to both Gens to enable button pushing on the go, but this is disabled if an 06 nav disc has already been inserted as an upgrade. the other diff is that Gen 3 you must be parked first to enable the hack, but with Gen 4 you can already be moving.
