Default issue with cracking sounds in dashboard

When going over bumps I can here a cracking sound from the dash. After some investigation I noticed the "PLASTIC " which holdas the instrument panel seems loose. The only time you here it is when you hit a bump (we have many on our roads) starting to become anoying, any thoughts?

Similar problems with the 04 model year, but were supposedly corrected in 05 and beyond. No issues with our 05. I would suggest a visit to your dealer.

RX350 has an issue with rattle at the bottom of the windshield. Is that where the rattle is coming from? Something to do with the anchor points or something, they will need to install foam or felt, it is rubbing. Hence, like squeeking, etc. Does this sound the same for you?

No , actually there is a little play in the instrument panel behind the steering wheel , don't know if thats normal. The sound comes when I hit a bump in the road , It's a creaking sound and can be duplicated when you push down on the dash or against the "plastic" that surrounds the instrument panel.

There is only 1 TSB for Instrument panel rattle for the 05 RX350. Rattle comes from the defroster pin which needs to be isolated with felt. The sound comes from the Instrument Cluster, near the base of the windshield. No other rattles are under TSB. Suggest that you take it in for a check and fix.

On my 04 I had a rattle every now and then but it was not consistent. Nevertheless, the Lexus Tech cushioned the plastic piece below the windshield/defroster vent and the sound went away. He told me that in the factory the piece is placed on very tightly and can flex its way a little loose.. enough to get a rattle. It a known issue with the techs.

I have an 05' with the same problem you mentioned....cracking sound from the dashboard. Brought it in...they replaced the entire dashboard and added some extra noise pads. No more noise! Is gone!

That was annonying!

What they did was remove the intrument panel cover ,insulated it and replaced. Looks like that did the trick. The loaner was a ES 350 and to tell you the truth I am much happier with the RX.
