Default RX330 cup holder

New to the board, looking for some help. I bought the wife a 05 RX330 second hand, and was wondering if there is, or ever was an insert to the cup holder found in the center console to hold smaller sized cups/cans/etc. My wife has several cans of soda tip over and spill in the holder and it is a pain to clean out.

Thanks for your help!!

there are suppose to be flaps that hold the drinks in place. i will try to find a picture, but it is needed you else you just have a rectangle storage area there. In the mean time, there is another front up holder underneath the driver side air con vent.

Thanks for the reply. The flap thingamagig you note is there, but it does not help at all. The holder on the dash is ok, but would perfer to keep the drink away from the dash. Would hate to have a drink spill and some of it getting into the dash, possibly getting any electronics wet.

lol well everything that came with the car is there. You just gotta make sure the spring is activated in the flaps and to insert the drink so that the flaps are pointing down. they seem to work pretty well for me. 0.o

those drink holders never hold anything in place, unless the cup is one particualr shape.

You're right - a super duper big gulp size of a cup is the only thing that will hold securely in the holder. If the cup holder had a divider in the middle, it would be vastly improved. I'll look around to see if there are any aftermarket products that could work.

Thanks to those for their input.

The new RAV4 has the same problem, Toyota made a insert for the 07 RAV, but it cost like $45.

I have complained about cup holders not being too big to hold the huge cups...the RX gives the option of small and large. A plus on my book.

It's simple. Remove the console, and take off the screws form the bottom to remove the back giving you access to the cup holder mechanism. When you can see the cup holder mechanism--unscrew on the little black clip. Use pliers bend the clip section aprox 4 degrees inward. Screw on the black clip that was previously removed. Test tolerance to see how smoothly it opens. Reinstall console.

Must be broken. There is a flimsy cup holder to the left side of the steering wheel.

That's what i thought - probably broken. What will this hold? Is it worth fixing?

It cost approximate $50 to $75 on Ebay. I have never found a use for it.

Looks like it'll hold a pop can size drink....As far as fixing it, I'd see if you can pull it out & see if its worth it & see if you like your drink right there.....
