Navigation pitfalls..
I have been a die hard Honda man for years, owned 5 Honda or Acuras in years past. If I am bias at all, it would toward Honda. The early Honda were well built, every newer Honda I have owned since, the quality have gotten worst and worst. The Honda trucks are especially bad, built quality is terrible. Honda needs to get back to their root and spend some money on quality control.
On the other hand, I have notice Toyota’s quality have gone downhill in the last couple of years as well.

Speaking of Honda, I found that Honda does offer the best navigation package in the industry.
What G-man is probably saying is that in Honda/Acuras, sheet metals are cheaper so they rust easier and you will hear more rattles in your car after a while. I had 2 Honda (Jap. assembled), and they are reliable and won't break down on you but RATTLES like hell. Compare that to my 03' camry LE w/ now 105k miles, no rattle or squeaks. Simply, they are better made from GROUND-UP.
I have more rattles in my 05 RX than I had in my 98 CRV. Come to think of it, my 91 MR2 doesn't have as many rattles. I'm hesitant to let them try and fix the dash rattles. This will likely push me to look at another brand when I replace the RX.
Back on topic, the navigation can be counter intuitive at times but I've owned 5 GPS devices and they all have their quirks. For me, as long as they all get me where I need to go, I can figure out how to program it. I'm more concerned with the quality of maps. POI's would be second highest on my list.

There are always exception to every case, I would say overall, Lexus have less rattles than Honda. The problem with Honda trucks is not only the rattles, its the overall quality of the truck body and interior.
Gilster,
Did I hear u right? You would rather trade in your car than let Lexus fix it for free.

I like to use the navi in twin view. One pointing north in the .5/.25 mile view and the other in driving direction view at the 700/300ft view. The problem is the driving direction view always switches to the black turn view whenever the navi is engaged. Anyone know a way to lock in the view while using the navi to go to a destination?
I like the navi, it works well, but takes a bit of getting used to. Certain street names only appear when viewing from a certain distance.
But the touch screen input can not be beat. I will never use a joystick navi ever again.

same rattles you might hear on Toyota/Lexus now, are the same rattles you will hear at >100k miles. On the other hand Hondas/Acuras, rattles will become progreesively louder. Plus, factory sound system is much better w/ Lexus than CRV/Pilot/MDX..
The dash rattles come and go so they aren't distracting enough for me to consider trading the car for something else. But certainly disappointed that the problem affects so many vehicles.
Considering 18" wheel and 55R tires, I can't complain..trading off some road noise on RX. However, there aren't any other promising choices when it comes to cross-over luxury SUVs. If I want something more advernturous in the future, I will go for Wrangler and throw-on Mickey Thompsons.
is that what the G man stands for? Garmin? Do you work for them?! haha
the problem with portable navs are that they are ugly. period. Nothing can be said to rebuttle that fact. They stick out of the dash, and they look small and too busy.
as for the lexus nav. It is constantly being rated the easiest, best navigation (in a car) that you can get.

The whole block out thing while moving makes the Lexus Nav useless.
Toyota edges Honda....fact....Toyota's are more money than Honda's...fact. Solution...own both...I do, 2 Toyota's (Camry + the RX330) and 2 Honda's Acura TL and CRV).
It is all in the beholder's eyes...but for quality...Toyota is # 1.

i really hate biases on brand specific forums such as this one. i have driven many hondas over my life time and many toyotas and have never had any of those squeaking problems or other problems people keep going on and on about in hondas. i have had problems in a lot of toyotas. anyways point is no car or manufacturer is perfect, and really the RX has way too many problems and dumb issues that it should not have at least not based on toyotas repuation. oh yeah and you guys have heard about the japanese government investagating toyota for quality issues back in japan right??? oh yeah i forgot toyota is perfect and honda just makes squeaky junk cars right?
