Question Moonroof

hey guys,

I have a 2004 RX330 and the moon roof does not close or open automatically whether it is to tilt open or slide open. I have to hold the switch to open and close it. Also because of this I don't know if is getting properly sealed when i do close it. I do try my best...but still there is that doubt.

Does anyone know how to reprogram it to open and close automatically? When I called the service rep. he said to hold the switch and open it all the way. I tried this but it did not work.

Any have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

1) try pushing and holding the roof close switch all they way, let the window go through one full cycle(will open and close). If is that your jamb protection is not working(tilt does not shut) then try this.
2) in the fuse box under the hood by the battery, pull out the fuse that is white in color called the short pin. Wait a few mins, then reinstall. do operation number 1 again. Remember you will also have to reinitialize all the windows and tail gate again.

Just play with it. Open the roof, hold the switch toward the open position for a few secs after the roof has opened; same for the close. I had to repeat like 5-6 times. Same for the tilt.

Default Moonroof reset.

The reset procedure is simple. Hold the close button until the roof slides open, closed and tilts up and closed. Once it goes through the full range cycle it will be reset and you can release the button.

I have tried to go through the cycle of opening and closing but it is not working.

I have tried to do this 5/6 times...but nothing!

Any other ideas?

I think if nothing works then I am just going to take it to the dealer.

This all happened when the body shop guy unplugged the battery (understandable). My car went to the body shop because of a deer....DAMN DEER! haha...

The reset precedure as described in the TSIB
To re-initialize the moonroof: (from the RX330 pre-delivery process, TSIB # PG002-03)

1. Turn ignition to "on".
2. Operate the moonroof by pressing and holding the tilt button while the roof moves:
a. fully closed
b. full tilt up
c. full tilt down
d. full slide open
e. full slide closed

Once it has gone through all these positions you can release the button.

If this doesn't correct your problem you will need to have a Lexus technician find out where the problem is.
