Default Should I Wait?

Hey, I'm looking at buying a 2008 RX350 in late spring/early summer, should I wait for the 2009 redesign? I really like the current design but dont want ot to be outdated within a year. Is their any estimation of when the 09 RX's will be out?

Well, you could wait for the RX-F and have a really unique ride!

2008s came out relatively early, in February, but since the 2009s are all new, I wouldn't expect them until sometime between June and September. If you have to have the updated model, can wait 14-18 months and don't mind paying full sticker, go for it. Otherwise, if you'll be happy with the current model, you can get in one a whole lot sooner and cheaper. Depends on how much you need a car, I guess.

now you can get realy good price on 08 like 41g on fully loaded with navi.
not really big money.

first year of 09 will be a bad buy just because first year usualy loaded with bags,
plus you have to pay msrp , or litle more. so you need to wait at least 2 years.

if you realy like rx350 and not planing to keep it forever go for it. it looks like great buy at 41g. new cars coming out all the time, why wait , get it ,enjoi it and trade it for 2010 !

just my $0.02

You make a good point, the 2009 model wil carry all the bugs, i would have to wait at least 2 years, and I can get a better deal, and I guess I will be going for a '08 model . Thank you everyone for their opinions!!!

I would recommend you wait since the resale value of your 2008 will drop significantly. I wouldn't buy the last year of the vehicle since it's the same virtually the same design as the previous 4/5 years.

If you think bugs are an issue and can't wait, I would try to get left over 2007's if available. You should be able to get a great deal on a 2007.

This is just my 2 cents...

Default 2009 Rx

Does anyone know if the 2009 RX will continue to carry the current 3.5L V6 engine? Also, I've always wondered why the RX was never given ventilated seats or pushbutton ignition. Again, anyone know if those two features might be a 2009 addition? Any other inside information on what the redesign will feature would be appreciated!

I would wait, but that's just me ... if you wait and can get more info about the new '09s before they come out, then make a decision. You would get a great deal on an '08 then as well.

As far as new model bugs, that's definitely a concern but Lexus does a better job than most making sure the new model is top notch and as free of defects as possible.

If it were me, I'd wait b/c I know I would like the newest model most likely ... if I were concerned about the new model price after introduction I'd just wait until later in the model year to purchase when supply catches up with demand.

Word is (as of now) that the new RX will be a little bigger and a little more aggressive looking.

IF I WERE YOU I'd continue to wait until more info on the '09s is revealed. Even if you wait too long and all the '08s are gone, you could surely get a low mileage used RX that someone else has traded in for a new '09 model

Turned 60K on our '04 RX. Had all the fluids drained & put in synthetics, also new tires. Was going to trade for '08 RX but the way this "04 is running think we can go 2 more years before updating. All I need will be new brakes & we are good to go. We'll wait for the new designed RX.

Rumor is the new RX will be much bigger with a 3rd row seat option. Personally, I would wait, but thats just me, I always have to have the latest and greatest. Just because the 08 is the last year b 4 re-design, it doesnt mean the trade in value is less in the future. As far as 09 price and bugs is concerned, all re-design car will have bugs. Lexus usually have less and they are real good about TSB to fix and bugs afterward. Price wise, if you want a good price, you will have to wait till maybe summer of next year.

After seeing my buddy's ES350 with lots of issue with his ride, I don't think I'll get one of the first 09 RX rolls out the assembly line. His ultraluxry ES was one of the first delivered to the northeast area. I'd wait a bit to get the 09. We are also looking to get a RX for my wife. She usually keeps the car for about 7 years and she doesn't care if she is driving the latest model. We are looking into an 08 RX. In 7 years.. it doesn't really matter if it's a 08 or a 09!
