Default How do you remove the floor console?

Does anyone know how to remove the floor console (the one between he front seats) on an RX350 (I assume it's the same for a 330)? I plan to mount an XM display in the console instead of on the dash and need access under the floor mount and into the console itself.

Or does anyone know if the Hayne's or Chilton's manuals show how to remove it?

Your help would be appreciated.

As best as I can remember, you remove the access panel on each side. It is toward the rear. Once removed, it will expose 10mm bolts. I forgot if there are 2 or 4 on each side. Remove those bolts. The front is just held down by two plastic button type tabs. Just pry it up. You kind of have to wiggle it free as you will have to reach under and disconnect the power outlet connector up front, as well as disconnect the cable for the sliding console. It is best that you also remove the two front seats so you can move them out of the way for more work room. In fact, I'm not sure you can get to all the bolts behind the rear side access panels with the front seats in the way. Anyway, hopefully I didn't forget anything. It is pretty easy to do it as you go along. Nothing really hidden so it should be easy to figure out.

Remove the plastic cap covering each bolt and remove the seat bolt. I think it is 14mm? The bolts are found at each corner of the seat. The two rear goes into the floor, and the front into the seat frame rail.

The seats are heavy, and you don't want to risk scratching your door panels or anything else on their way out. I would advise moving both front seats to their full forward position (raising them up helps, also) and slide the console all the way back. Then behind the covers, there are 3 10mm bolts on each side. Reiterating, there is the slide cable (passenger side of console) and connector in the front, which is also clipped into the floor. After the bolts are removed, you can move either seat back to access the front of the console to disconnect. Then the whole console can be tilted up from the back, clearing the duct work, to remove.
