My RX330-06 (breakwater blue) lost a headlight washer assembly to a thief. Thanks to previous post, I did not know what I had lost.
The assembly pops out of the top bumper in front of the lights.

Local dealer wants $295.00. Found an out of state Lexus dealer that I had bought a lexus hitch from to sell it for $225.00. Ouch.

Anyway, anyone else having this problem with theft of these. Kind of reminds me of the days with the Cadilacs and their front hood emblems, although I don't see anyone wearing them as a necklace.

Any ideas on how to secure these and keep them functional??

Oh, by the way, it only takes 15 seconds or less to remove these by using a screw driver!!!

If you don't have much use for it, just get the replacement caps and cover them up. After all, you didn't know what they were. You won't miss not having the assembly in.

I have an idea. Instead of the washer assembly, equip them with front-firing machine guns a la James Bond. Program them to go off the next time someone touches the caps.

Excellent idea. Equip the right side with the flame burner and the left with the front-firing machine gun. Now, that's one bad-*** RX.

Is the headlight washer feature worth it? I don't have it on mine so I can't comment. If it's not worth it, I'll just cap it off like the previous post suggested and save your money. There's a good chance the theif will come back to yank it off again if you restore it.

 

Unless you get a lot of mud on the front of your RX, I don't think it is worth it. I never used them on any vehicle I have had. Most of the higher end RX packages have them so it wasn't a choice.

 

I have had those washers on my SC which I have driven since April of '01 and, even though the front end of that car is much closer to the ground than that of the RX, I have never used them.

I did test them once to see what would happen, and found that they spray water all over the front of the car.

Frankly, I've never had my headlights get so dirty that I needed to wash them while on the road.

Put on some caps and forget about it -- these things don't seem to have a high utility value.

Live in an area that has snow, slush, and lots of road salt. I use mine every time it snows! Keeps those HIDs working nice and clear. Don't you just wish that you could publicly execute headlight and washer thieves? Do this once or twice and we could stop these scum bags!
