I have owned my '06 RX330 for about 4 months now and love it! The one complaint I do have is that in cold weather (<30) the jam protection feature on the power rear door seems to be very sensitive. Sometimes when I operate the power rear door, the door will raise all the way, then automatically start closing. I've nearly had my head as well as my wifes taken off. Has anyone else seen this and if so is it a solvable problem?
Hi,
February 7, 2006 Toyota had TSB BO 004-06* "REAR DOOR STAY IMPROVEMENT" ...Certain 2004 – 2006 model year RX 330 (Japan built*) and 2006 model year RX 400h vehicles may experience insufficient support from the rear door stays. This condition may be misdiagnosed as an issue with the operation of the power back door motor (if equipped). The rear door stays have been improved to correct this condition...
... Repair Procedure: Replace rear stay assemblies...
HTH,
------------------
* NOTE: This TSIB is NOT to be confused with TSIB No. BO013-05, which refers to North American produced RX 330 vehicles.
**VIN: JTJ... ; PLANT: TMK
I thought it was odd that a problem with the rear door stays only affected one model and one plant. Between these two TSIB's, it sounds like almost all 2004 and later RX's with the power back door might eventually need better door stays.
Remember that TSIB's are not recalls. They're posted here just to let you know that if your car exhibits these symptoms, then Lexus dealers know how to fix it when you call for service.
I had the same problem w/my 2006 RX330...Door goes all the way up and then you hear the beeping that it is closing. Real annoying, so after looking at these forums I sent an email to my service dept explaining the problem and attaching the TSB...I took it in yesterday and 45 minutes later the problem is fixed. Seems like a pretty simple fix...and had all the coffee and breakfast I could eat
Since TSIB's are not recalls, your dealer isn't obligated to do anything unless the part is actually showing the problem. I suppose you can always call and ask, but don't be surprised if they say "no".
Does anybody know the part number of these "stays' and how/where they are installed. Sounds like a better solution instead of the goofy response of lubicating the struts...

68950c, I wonder if that's a pr. or each? I didn't know struts were also called stays. I'm glad i got out of bed this morning.RX330inFL thanks for the info.

That is each. You need 68950C and 68960.
You might try the following company if you want to try something other than OEM:
Cleaning and lubing the struts is the first recommendation as these are normally neglected and need attention like most any moving part. A little silicone spray a few times each year can go a long way. Also, these lose efficiency as the temperatures drop. So, it is not abnormal to have some problems this time of year as the lifts start seeing some age.
