I tried out the ML in an RX330. IMO, ML is very good, but not superb. I think it's comparable to the 240-watt Pioneer in my 2002 RX300. Therefore, I believe ML is over-hyped. Even ML's celebrity wife figured it out and left him.Originally Posted by louiein99

The bass had no punch, and overall the sound was very flat when listening to FM. I have been told that the sound is much better with a CD, but I plan to install satellite radio, and I mostly listen to FM.

I have the 05 RX330 with ML, and to me it is worth every penny i love it, and yes i have heard the stock ones, and yes they do sound pretty good for stock, but ML offers 3 more speakers i believe, and that comes handy when i'm watching a multichannel movie in the back of my RX. Bass the ML has alot of bass, just put in your favorite CD, FM, or XM, and there's a tuning **** that adjusts bass, treble, etc.. put It on Drivers, and you feel some bass even on bass level 3 and volume at level 30. Hell yeah

The base is a wimpy 110-watt stereo. Can't compare it to anything decent in the market, nor can it match the 240-watt Pioneer in the 2002 RX300 (no Nakamichi nor ML for this model year.) I think Lexus put in this 110-watt rental-car grade stereo as base to force people to buy ML.

I think you are missing something here it's 210 watt 11 speakers, and it is acoustic tune to blow 110 watt away. Originally Posted by HarrierAWD

I am not saying ML sucks. It's a very good system. It's just not better than any decent systems out there. So IMO it's over-hyped.
As for "acoustically tuned," read any car brochure. You'll find the same claim used in just about any cars - Ford, GM, Nissan, etc. They always brag about how their "team of expert sound or acoustic engineers" carefully determine the placement of speakers, etc. Yet about all car makers put the speakers in the same places. LOL.
