Default 2005 Rx

I am looking at purchasing a 2005 Rx330 in Breakwater Blue. I am located in Canada and I am looking at the Luxury package, basically AWD and sunroof for options. I will be trading my 2003 Nissan Murano, which has been a complete disappointment. Does anyone know of any problems with this color, ie: hard to keep clean or shows dirt really easily. Also should I bother with the protection package, undercoating and paint sealant, or is this a waste of time.

We just bought our Breakwater Blue two weeks ago, here in Washington. I was surprised at how clean it looked even after several wet trips around town. I elected not to get these extra packages, believing a good polish (Zaino Bros.) is the best bet. Although the undercoating has always seemed a good idea, but not done by the dealer.

Hey thanks for the info. I was thinking the same thing about some good car polish. Maybe I can look into getting just the undercoating done. Thanks again!

Undercoating is a waste of money, and poorly applied undercoating could create places for water to pool, causing a potential rust problem that never existed before. I'd take a pass on the undercoating.

Thumbs up Welcome to CL, dougt & SamnJaz!

Glad to have you on our forum! The large number of Lexus owners represented here can share a gold mine of experience.

It may be my own personal prejudice, but I believe those "protection packages" are a welfare program for unscrupulous dealers. Today's galvanizing and primer/paint packages benefit little from "paint sealants", "undercoating" and the like. Lexus has already backed your vehicle with one of the longest warranties against rust in the industry, so don't worry about it . . . enjoy those new rides!
