Default trouble with xm installation?

I have a 2005 rx330 with navigation and seat warmers. The xm display screen is 4.5" wide by 1.75" Does anybody know where a good place to install this?

Don't know about the '05's, but I have my Roady 2 mounted in my sunglasses holder on my '02. The power is tapped from the auto day/night mirror and the antenna goes along the a-pillar down to the dash. It has a built in fm modulator, so there's no ugly cassette adaptor wire. Other than flipping it down to switch stations, you'd never know it was there. Keeps it safe from prying eyes.

Steve-- Does the Roady2 turn on whenever power is applied? (My Skyfi1 doesn't). Also, is the antenna wire run internally, or externally, to the dash? How do you change FM channel to avoid interference on the Roady2? I'm thinking of doing the same thing on my '02.

We have a original Roady and here is where I put it in my wife's new 05. I stuffed all the wires in between the padded part and the wood part of the console. I then placed the antenna on top of the dash near the windshield (even though the XM radio rcommends in being on the outside opf the car, it has not had a problem getting a signal) and just double-stick taped the unit to the console.

Bob,

Yes the Roady 2 will turn itself back on when it senses that power has been restored to the cigarette lighter plug. I also have the original Skyfi that I kept in my sliding console drawer and it was a hassle to have to power it on each time. The Roady 2 menu has an option to set the auto on. It even has an option for a timed auto off if your cigarette lighter always has power. Since the Roady 2 is in the sunglasses holder, the antenna wire runs along the headliner by the windshield and down the inside of the a-piller between the glass and the a-pillar molding. I used a small screwdriver to push the wire between the interior trim and the glass. The little antenna sits on the driver's dash corner right by the headlight window. I never loose reception (Chicago area has a lot of repeaters.). The Roady 2 menu allows you to select from at 6 or maybe 8 FM frequencies. I've been very happy with it so far. I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

Pics as promised. I had to trim the plastic on the bottom of the holder or else it would have covered the preset buttons. I could have done a little nicer of a job on the cutting.

Only two wires go into the Roady 2.....a power cord and the antenna. The FM modulator is built into the Roady 2.

One word of advice if you are going to hardwire it.....DO NOT cut off the cigaratte lighter plug and hardwire it to your system. You will fry out your Roady, since the Roady runs on 6v and the cigarette lighter plug contains a transformer. I bought a cigarette lighter extension cord, cut the end off that and hardwired it. My Roady cigarette lighter plug then plugs into that.

In case you're wondering about the Valentine One installation, it's hardwired also. Everything goes on and off with the ignition.

Antenna location.

The wire was run along the plastic trim of the a pillar. The wire is so thin it just fits right in.
