Judging by this thread, it happens on both AWD and FWD. I personally have a FWD with this issue

Default Update after 30,000 km

Maybe need more time to prove it, although I think the jerk or surge should tranny related, but at least it works now!

The gear oil I use is Castrol Gear Oil GL-5 80W90 [NOT full synthetic version].

2006 RX330 Transfer Case & Rear Differential Oil Change
After more than 30,000 km daily driving:
Before: More than 30% chances and jerk or surge like light rear end say 10/10 forces @~190,000 km
After: Less than 1% and very light jerk or surge feels like 1/10 to 3/10 as compare with before now @220,000+ km
BTW transmission fluid drain and fill every 60,000 km using T-IV. Never did transmission adaptation reset.

Default Gear Slip

I am a new owner of a 2004 Lexus RX330. New timing belt was just put in along with a transmission service before taking possession. After one week of driving it is slipping in 2nd and 3rd gear. Brought it back to dealer and they topped off the fluid again. I noticed today when I am driving locally under 40mph if kept in 4th it drives perfectly fine, but when put in D it slips. Ahhh! Does this mean the transmission is going and/or is it completely fine for me to drive it in 4th around town to avoid the annoying slippage and then put it in D on Hwy?

Who did the transmission service? Lexus? Are you sure they used Honda Transmission fluid?

The dealer I purchased it from is not Lexus. I believe these trannies use Toyota IV fluid but I have no idea what the dealer used. It was my pre-purchase agreement that they do the 90K mile timing belt replacement and service the transmission.

Default 2004 Rx330 hesitation at first start and drive of the day when cold.

I have 2004 lexus rx330 at 132k miles. I noticed that at first start of the day especially when the weather is cold, it makes a cracking noise for a few seconds which disappears. Few weeks later, it hesitates on acceleration especially when I want to over take another vehicle. Presently, at first start of the day, it hesitates when put to drive mode, and revs up to 4000 to 5000 before it grudgingly starts to move. Once it starts moving, it won't repeat it throughout the day as long as the engine is hot. I also noticed that the reverse drive runs smoothly without any problem.

I service and change the engine oil and oil filter frequently. The engine oil has remained within the normal range most of the time though it passes the highest level mark some times. The transmission oil level is within the normal range.

About this time last year, I had similar problems with this car. After all efforts to resolve it on my own failed, I took it to a car mechanic who after check informed me that the transmission oil pump was bad and needed to be changed. It cost much to have it changed and the car gradually returned to normal after about 2 weeks.

Now, the problem is back again. Is there no means of resolving it permanently? Please, I need help. This car is frustrating me. Has anyone experienced this?

Any assistance will be highly appreciated please.
