Maybe you need to reset the car computer and let the computer learn the way you drive instead of the previous owner style. You can remove the battery negative terminal (black) for about 30 minutes. That would reset the computer. See if that help.

Another thing to try is to let lexus re-flash with the latest transmission software. It may cost you $140 because your 06 was not part of the TSB.

I had my 05 re-flashed and it feel like night and day different. Smooth shifting vs rough and hesitate. I noticed that my MPG went down a tad, but it worth it.

Yeah, I noticed the age of this thread under the Moderators post as well.

Yeah I have the same issue with my 05 but from what I heard thats the way the transmission is programmed. I also have a 06 Mitsubishi eclipse gtv6 with 5speed auto and that transmission is way quicker smoother and seems "smarter" and its not a lexus. I love the RX but I think they messed up the transmission, just as long as it doesn't break I'm alright with it.

Synthetic seems to be the only relatively cheap way (but better for it any way) to smooth things out.

Stick with Toyota T-IV for tranny fluid. Saves grief for warranty purposes.

My Rx does the same thing. So if I just disconnect the battery for 30 minutes this should reset everything? And then the car will learn my driving habits?

I just found a product that might be able to fix our transmission problem. I read up that another Rx owner tried it and it supposedly fixed his transmission issues. I will be the guinea pig and report back if it works or not. I just ordered and should hopefully get it by this weekend.

Here is the product. http://www.transmaticsc.com/

Here is what a Lexus Rx owner said about this

" have a 99 Lexus RX300 I bought it used with 45k on it and it now has 109k at about 90k I took it in for the dealer service they did the timing belt and all other things necessary and they flushed the trans.. about a month later I started having problems with the trans...slipping...clunking...not going in reverse and when in drive it would not move... for a temp. fix you can shut off the engine for few minutes and it will go for about 10 miles or so... what is happening is trans. fluid is not getting to the clutches...torque converter and other parts of the trans, so it slips... the dealer when pressured will drop the fluid and clean the screen filter...for about three hundred dollars... this will probably last about 8 to 10 thousand miles depending on how you are driving...

I have found a product that restores life to these transmissions and should help the RX330 with the shifting lag they are having... the product is TRANSMATIC...

It works to thin the transmission fluid and gets the protection to the parts that need it... as long as the transmission is not falling apart you should try this...

I took my RX300 to the dealer the first time they said it would be 4500 dollars for new tranny... (internal problem)

Right...I now have almost 20 thousand miles on mine since I put the Transmatic in and the transmission is smooth... you also notice a power difference right away...

What have you got to loose try it if it works great... I think you will see a difference and it is only 30 bucks"
