RX330 - Dash Rattle
I dropped off my 330 at the dealer to fix the rattle coming from the area where the windshield defroster vents are.
The service advisor said that, with these models, there were known problems with the insulation between the dash and the windshield.
At any rate, they have it now and I'm driving a new loaner vehicle, an RX 350 with only 900 miles on it.

They kept it for two days. They said that the test drive didn't produce any rattles, but they "fixed" it anyway by adding foam insulation under the dash. I picked it up late last night and the rattle seemed to be gone.
However, this morning, the rattle was back and more noticable. I called my service advisor and offered to take him down "my" test roads, which are medium rough, not severe rough. So, we did that and he wrote up another work order and stated on it that he verified the rattle. This time, I received an '06 RX330 loaner.
As stated in my other message, the first time in I was given an '07 RX350 loaner. Man! What a difference with the tranny! There is absolutely no hesitation like in my 330. On the 350, there is no noticable downshift just before coming to a complete stop, either. It felt really good.
The only negative about the loaner is that it doesn't have NAV, which I'm spoiled on!
I hope to pick up my vehicle tonight <fingers crossed>, but I have a feeling it may be tomorrow since there were a ton of folks bringing their cars in this morning ahead of me.

i dont have the dash rattling, well not yet. i do however have to take the car back in for a front speaker that is not working and for the tranny. the rx350 has the tranny issues also, ive driven one extensively with that problem.
I guess pulling the dash apart is not a "wham-bam, thank ya 'mam" sort of quickie thing. There are airbags that you have to be carefull with, etc.

Alright! I now have a rattle-free dash in my 330. According to the work order, the "OPCODE" for this was NV3017 where they installed a dash pad and insulated the defroster nozzle, as well as installed a "noise kit". (whatever that means)
While they were test driving it, they noticed a humming sound coming from vehicle when A/C is turned on. I had noticed that humming sound a couple of times, but didn't think anything about it. However, they fixed it according to the TSIB AC003. "Moan sound with AC on".
After some online research I found the bulletin described as:
"Some 2004 – 2006 RX 330 owners may experience a moan noise heard at 1100 rpm to 1400 rpm with the A/C ON. Production changes to the discharge hose and clutch hub have been implemented to prevent this problem. This service bulletin provides a procedure to improve this condition."
So, I am now rattle and hum free!

Lexus has a major dash rattle or whatever you call it since at least2004 and has not fixed the problem. I have had it in 3 times & it always comes back when it gets cold out. Truly considering a M. Benz next year as I read here that 2005, 06, & 07 RX owners have this problem. One would think in 3 years this would have been corrected.
