I have an '04 that had the hitch removed at 84K miles. I know this from seeing the service request in the My Lexus site ("customer requests to remove the trailer hitch and place it in the trunk"). I'm not sure if the vehicle has the factory tow package, though I doubt it would have had a hitch installed if it didn't - most of the maintenance at that time was done at the Lexus dealer. Fast forward to 2025 and I want to pull a small trailer, so I get the Curt hitch installed and the 4-flat hooked up to the main harness under the back deck... and I have no power to that connector on the main harness. 30 amp fuse in the engine compartment is there and checks out. Major bummer.
I'd try a wiring kit (Curt 55563) but am seeing that this didn't work for other RX owners. Is there a converter in the trunk area that I need to look for? Any other relay/fuses to check? I'm pretty stumped.
I'm curious about this connector directly under the trunk threshold. Turn, parking and brake lights run through it but it seems to just terminate in this cap.
