How long are tire sensors supposed to last?
Have a 2008 Lexus RX350 - (new to me 2019). Got new tires from Costco in 2020 + sensors - my shop who swaps out my winter tires/rims just told me the sensors are bad and need replacing. He's had issues with them in the past and had to order a new one from the Lexus dealer next door (for the spare I believe). Something was causing the light to constantly come on and they couldn't figure it out.
Have the Costco paperwork - are the sensors warranted or do I just get new Costco ones? Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Typically they last 8 - 12 years depending.
Call Costco and ask about the TPMS warranty.
However it has been 5 years and I doubt they have a warranty that is still in effect.
I have 7 year old Costco TPMS sensors on my HS250h and they still work just fine. They were made by Schrader.

Thanks much! Going over my paperwork, I also bought a set of Blizzaks in 2021 and had to get sensors ($43 ea). I'm thinking Costco used the original sensors that were on the car when I got it in 2019 - and used them for my new summer tires in 2020? Last year I bought a 2008 RX400h and it was my first experience with TPMS. I needed 4 new tires and the TPMS weren't replaced when I got them. Of course, the tire warning is constantly on, but since I never relied on TPMS, I'm not excited to spend money on replacing them. Thank you for asking the TPMS question!
So, I guess I may be able to reset the TPMS, since they were last replaced in 2022. More to investigate.
New question: Do the TPMS play any part in mileage reporting on the dashboard? I was getting 27mpg before I got new tires, and it's now reporting 20mpg. I can't imagine my mpg would go down so drastically because I've got new tires. Any thoughts?
