Replace Scuff Lighting aka Door Sill Bulb Driver side
Hello There,
My 09 RX, the scuff light a.k.a. door sill bulb (driver side where Lexus is printed) not working. I get a warning sign at night. All other bulbs are working as expected. Can someone suggest, how to fix this.
Thanks in anticipation

That scuff plate light won't give you a bulb out warning. Are you sure the rear sidemarkers and fronts are fully operational? You'll need to solder in a 3mm bulb after dissembling the scuff plate. It's a messy and annoying job, but doable if you don't mind messing with electronics. The 3mm bulb is soldered onto a small circuit board
Thanks for the reply. Yes, all other three are lighted up at night. Only driver side is not. I dont think I can mess with electronics. What is the alternative?
About the bulb warning on dashboard, the warning turns ON only when its dark and headlight turns ON. I have checked few times, all bulbs seem to be working. Any suggestions!

An alternative is getting one from the junkyard RX in the right colour. I added them to my car and the junkyard only charged me about 15 CAD for all four, but the Lexus OEM price is around or maybe over 150 ea so may have to search on eBay for used ones or live with it.
The bulb warning light will come on not only if an exterior bulb is burned out, but if it isn't meeting the correct resistance, so it may be a dim bulb that is about to go out. I would turn your lights on and unscrew every bulb socket and see if it's illuminated or not, or just change them all as the peanut T10 bulbs are cheap enough. Do you rear lower bumper lights turn on, do the running lights on the trunk and tail lights work, do the little bulbs on the side of the headlights and on top of the high beam work?
