Default rear tailgate compatibility

I have a 2005 Japan built RX 330. The tailgate is damaged so I decided to change it out. I bought a rear tailgate off of a Canadian built 2005 RX 330. I installed the Canadian built tailgate and it bolted right up. The problem is that the tailgate will not close and latch. Any idea why?

Back door lock has a different pn. for Canadian and Japan-built cars. Maybe try swapping the latches between the trunks.

Update: I did not get a chance to swap the latches yet. Will update as soon as I can.

Update: There is full compatibility, everything is the same. No need to switch latches or anything else. I found out that the vehicle was previously in a rear-end crash and the body was pushed in so that is why the liftgate was not closing properly.
