Default When to change battery? Too old?

Hi everyone, was curious to know about car batteries, and if they aren't failing or straining to start the car...should it be changed? I looked at the stickers on it, and think it may be 10 years old. The car turns over well, the headlights still shine bright.
should i just wait till it craps out?
it's an ac delco professional series.
thanks
fab

I changed my 12v battery proactively on year 9. I did not want to get stranded in the worst time possible like weekend evening or away from home. Also, I saved money by shopping around in advance and avoid paying last minute full price. I may lost 1-2 more years of service life left but I made these $20-40 value back on the new battery price discount.

On the other hand, my wife’s car battery failed in my garage during business hours, on a day I was home, very conveniently. A quick trip to the store to bring one and car was running within an hour.

10 year old battery? Unless you were keeping your car on battery tenders, I do not think you can get 10 years out it easy, jm2c.

Why don't you take the car to an auto parts store and ask them to check the battery? They do it for free. I had my battery checked at Batteries Plus for free.
