I changed my Weapon-R cold air intake system back to my OEM airbox and filter last weekend. Today, I took a two-hour trip ranging from 65-75mph usually staying around 70mph. From the gas station to my destination I averaged 27.5 miles per gallon
I'm surprised at the difference. I was in the car myself and was carrying a 25" television. I doubt it makes much of a difference, but I have the RMM exhaust still installed. I'm pleased with how quiet the RX is now with the OEM airbox back on. The exhaust isn't loud enough to notich much. I still like the Weapon-R CAI and the sound from it, but it was time for a change and with these results, the change may be more permanent than I previously thought.
Now that you removed the Weapon R. Have you noticed a performance decrease? I am very interested in putting one into my RX although I've heard conflicting stories on there actual impact...
Thanks
Without the WR CAI it's certianly quieter; many times loudness adds to the placebo of an intake making a power difference. In my experience, having the CAI installed, there was a noticeable boost in power when accelerating - the change in power with the CAI surfaced at 3k rpm (most noticeable when accelerating in 3rd gear). With the OEM airbox, the power is more linear, I don't get the extra little boost at 3k rpm.
