I know this is a common complaint. Changed timing belt, water pump and power steering. This noise just keeps coming back. Sometimes happens at start up and increases noise with acceleration. Any ideas..

There is no change with AC compressor and haven’t tried without alternator belt. It sometimes is loud on start up and then settles down. Also when engine revs it gets louder but seems to go away at highway speeds….

While maintaining a constant velocity at highway speeds there is no extra torque on belts since rpms not increasing so this is looking to me like belt slippage maybe.
When accelerating, velocity and rpms are increasing.
Plus at highway speeds engine noises are more muted.

It sounds like the power steering pump to me, im not a mechanic but I did flush both my car and truck by unhooking the hoses and jacking up the vehicle and just turn the wheel lock to lock without it on and they've been fine for years now
I just say this because i helped install a rebuilt engine into a van, we reused the old ps pump and i think he only filled it up and didn't try to bleed it and it probably ruined it, but i could be wrong.
