RX300 Key FOB "CHIPs" Replacement
I purchased a few extra shell key fobs on EBAY and had them cut at the Toyota Dealer who was 1/4 the price of the Lexus dealer. I transferred the internal 3 button electronic case from my broken RX300 key FOB to the new one. It now works great.
I also have the internal electronics from a GX470 that I would like to use on the extra key fob I had cut. However, I don't believe it will work? Even if I wipe it out. However, if I order a chip on EBAY and swap out the GX chip with a new RX300 chip will it take on the new programming. Or, are there (2) chips, i) one for starting the car and ii) one for door locks?
My research shows it is either a 4C or IC4C chip... can anyone confirm?

the FOBs with chips and key are only $15-20 on ebay .... most of them are model specific. So if you need another FOB, just order what you need for that model.
There are 2 programming steps for the FOB. one to start the car (immobilizer) and one to connect to the door locks. Two different/separate processes.
