Ect power

Default Ect power

I recently bought my 1999rx300 it was decently low miles for it's age and don't know much about lexus but I've read ppl love having the ect power on I was wondering if it's okay to have it on all the time?

Welcome to Club Lexus and congratulations on your new ride.

You can and the downside will be poorer fuel economy. I would suggest that leave it alone and only use when you have the urge to change shift points for faster acceleration. RX is no speed demon and best is to adjust to the new normal.

Mine always seems to have all the power I need without using the ECT feature, but I only use premium fuel, keep things in tune i.e. fresh oil, tire pressure, air filter, etc. I demand a lot from my vehicles and my RX always seems to deliver, but as Salim mentioned, this series has its limit. I believe we only have 225 horsepower with this engine.
