Default Low beams non functional, High beams dim

Hello,

My headlights ceased to work on my 99 RX. First tried a replacement relay, did not solve the issue. I then tried hot wiring where the relay went by bridging connections (as shown below circled in red) and it brought the low beams back, but no dice on the high beams. Any possible idea as to what is wrong with this system? maybe a dud relay replacement (the relay replacement is the blue pulled out in the box) , bad ground, or is there a headlight ECU that might be toasted?

Thanks in advance!

See if power is making it to the relay. Headlight switch if it's not?

The Fuse Panel does not look spiffy (it can be the flash that makes it look worse than what it is). You may want to unbolt it and have a look from behind as there may be a bad case of corrosion. Contact cleaner can remove surface corrosion.

A minor fact that is usually overlooked is DRL has an input from brake pedal.

Power is making it to the relay, hence why the connection bridge works. (between the red circles) i am going to check the other slots for corrosion while im in there. Where is the headlight switch located to check/test? Many thanks

Really? Never knew the DRL has an input from the brake pedal how would I go about testing that out? is there a fuse/sensor associated with this? Thanks!

Hi,
Do you have Hids or No Hids?

Back then there were still a few drive-in theaters. The auxiliary (foot) brake when applied would kill the DRL.

99 RX's do not have the HID's, only halogens. Don't feel the need to convert quite yet either

I mean the power to trigger the relay from the headlight switch.

The non-HID has no headlight ECU so that will simplify things a little- at least on the 2002 schematic.
It shows jumping the relay the way you did forces on the Low Beams but maybe someone has a 1999 headlight schematic to compare.
Also, there is a DRL No. 4 and a DRL No. 3 Relay for high beams and DRL's circuit but the 2002 schematic is all I have.
