climate control trim faded

climate control trim faded
Just put in an offer on 99 rx300 (hoping to soon be a proud Lexus owner)
Noticed that the lower portion of the climate control trim is badly faded (from wear) and dealer says they will not repair/replace under warranty.
Car still has bumper to bumper warranty and given the fact that this part should be expected to have hand contact, I feel that fading at only 47000 miles is unacceptible.
Has anyone had trim issued resolved satisfactorily under warranty?
