Default Engine and Transmission Mount

Is there a quick visual check I can do to see if my engine and transmission mounts need to be replaced? I have over 250K miles and never worried about my mounts until recently when my Mercedes mounts went bad in about 80K miles. It was a quick reminder that I needed to check mine. Can I crawl under the car and check it out or do I need to take it to a shop?

My guess is the rubber in your bushes rotted in your old but low mile Mercedes. The easiest way to tell is look at the motor running is it bouncing around then you need new mounts. If the engine moves when engaging gears you need new mounts. I do have new mounts at about 150k I changed mine.

True this...

Only like to add is easiest with a helper to put car in Drive and Reverse and another person to inspect.
I probably replaced too many top dog bone mounts to count- they failed regularly especially on domestic cars and are usually the first ones to go.
PS- Replaced all mine this year at 151k Miles due to bad vibration.
