2001 RX300 vs 2006 RX330
I currently own a 2001 RX300 with 126k miles and am considering trading it in for a 2006 RX330 with 140k. Timing belt changed on 2001 but no evidence it was changed on 2006. Any advice on what I should do? Dealer is only giving me $3000 for my 2001 and selling 2006 for $7981
Very interesting question. It depends on your age, income, and the use of the vehicle. Personally, I 'll keep the 2001.
I don't know about the 2006, but I own a 1999 RX300, 131,000 miles, and I intend to keep it for at least 10 more years.

I'd pass for 2 reasons: 1) no record for timing belt service, and 2) it is at a dealer. Also, it is newer and has more electronics; which can mean more headaches. The dashes are prone to crack and split on those models as well.
On the other hand, if you like it, know and trust the dealer, it looks & runs well - go for it. I would definitely have a PPI done on it though!

Thank you Fit1too! I’m thinking the same as you and you made some really good points! I actually have never dealt with this dealer before and am not completely comfortable with my experience there! Thanks again!!

I actually own both a 01 RX300 65k and a 04 RX330 68K
and they are still to this day one of my favorite cars
in my stable.
The RX 300 has its moments ( large turn radius,
engine slush and AT issues ) while the RX330
( drive by wire sluggish transmission and dashboard
issues) also has a few. But if you take care of
their issues, the 1st and 2nd generations will
run forever.

I love my 1999 RX300. We've had it since new but it's beginning to show all of its 200,000+ miles now. Don't know if its just age or mileage but its coming close to trade in time for me. I'm retired now so can't afford new (probably won't live long enough to amortize the cost like I did with the '99). I'd like a low mileage 2009.
