I am doing a Evap System Smoke Test on my 2000 LexusRX300 at the Green Evap Test Port near Air Filter Box.

When I put Smoke to that port I see Smoke coming out the Air Drain Hose at the Rear of the car on the Evap Canister.

This is with the Key off to the SUV. I was told that this is a Issue and it should not Leak with no power on. Is that Correct??

If then it is a Issue - How to fix it and or test to see why ?

Also could this cause a PO171 Code?

How did you perform the smoke test. It's my understanding that you hook something up at the line with the green cap, but what equipment did you use and where did you get it. I wish I could give you an answer about the smoke coming out of the rear purge hose, maybe someone will chime in that knows!

 

Got a Smoke Machine and a Evap Connector with hose both on Ebay for like $100 total.

 

If you know of person who smokes, they can exhale into the pipe too ... just keep the lit cigarette/cigar away from the fumes.
