Default headlight lens replacement?

Is there a write up about replacing the headlight lenses? I looked in my Haynes manual but it also covers Toyota Highlander and it talks about removing the front bumper cover. Is it the same on the RX and what does that entail?

There are just some really long bolts to hold it all in place just unclip the electrics and undo the bolts. The worst part is getting the bolts back in to thread each one takes ages to get out and in.

It has been a while but what I recollect is that the early years of RX the lamps [that is Lexus talk about the headlight assembly] was so easy to remove that they were getting stolen. Then a modification was made to make them more secure [which usually means the access was made more difficult].

Yes, you need to remove bumper cover. It is not that hard to do, just a few bolts and clips.

I think the modification was only to the RX300s with optional HID (high intensity discharge) headlights. In 2002, when I bought my RX300, I was wondering why the service bays had mostly RX300s. The explanation that I got was that they were in for this anti-theft modification.

When i did mine (cracked lens), i didnt have to take the bumper off.
But you do need to get access thru the fender liner for the mounting screws.

Saw this:
4 part video of step by step.
