RX300 ignition key, ECU?
This youtuber claim that this method will work with older Toyota. You can try to verify if it does work. I don't know if it really works. I have a copy of Techstream that will allow me to erase all the registered key and will register the current key in the ignition lock.

I have not seen any vin info written to any ecu from 1998-2002. I have replaced the ecu in my LX470 with 4 different ecus while experimenting and never have seen any vin info. i have seen vin info written to ecus for vehicles after 2002
Yes, the chips i have been giving away are 93c56 eeprom.

I want to order a few new chips but I don't want to get the wrong brand. In my search it's a bit confusing because there's letters following the 93c56. There's questions regarding 16 bit or 8 bit an I'm a bit hazy on it all. Would you be good enough to post a link for the correct one? I was also hoping to find a socket for the chip so I don't have to heat it up or solder leads to it while flashing it. Given my limited knowledge, I don't know what the proper name of the eprom socket, so perhaps you can help shed some light on it. Thanks again
