I don't see any reason why you can't, should be the same internals.

I get it, but I would be more skeptical about the quality of motor inside the aftermarket unit. Just a feeling based on every one wants to maximize profits.

PS: The smarts for the wireless remote is not in the actuator/motor

Why do many 0n this thread say the solution is a new motor then don't list the part number? Sure would be helpful. Otherwise, how do I find it?

The only true part number would be through Lexus/toyota and they list the whole actuator as a replaceable part. [Any part can be searched through on line retailers like Lexus of South Atlanta].

Once you look at hobby parts, each manufacturer has its own part number and the ingenuity of the members was to find sone replaceable motors. There are some reverse polarity motors as well. It is somewhat of a minefield.

Please look at the sticky DIY and start your search there.

makes sense to me. I'm in a similar position, anyone know if there's a way to test if the motor's the problem in the factory actuators, or if it's something else?

I would like to add. I had bad luck with installing "new motors". That solution did not work for me. I believe it is ALL made in china. I ended up using the Ebay actuators and that solution worked just fine. If you are that picky about parts and want the most reliable, you are going to have to shell out $350 at the dealer for ONE actuator. I have also seen refurbished units but I am not too keen on that either.

The only thing is the connector pins on the actuator did not line up perfect. I used a flat blade screw driver to push up the pins a little bit, toward the "top side" on the connector. With a little bit of finesse, the male connector clicked right into place. If you don't hear the click, you have to keep trying.

Have to replace rear passenger side door lock actuator.
Does anyone have recent experience, good or bad, with the chinese made ones?
Judging from the photos, there seem to be only 1 or 2 manufacturers and I'd like to know which one to buy.

Cheers,
Johan
