Hybrid retrofit
I know this sounds crazy but does anyone know a way to retrofit my car for a hybrid drivetrain? I heard from somewhere that we can actually retrofit a mild hybrid system complete with lithium ion battery in the trunk and an electric motor in the engine bay. Any idea? My car is old enough and depreciated enough that I can try freaky stuff like this. I would love to get a 3 to 4 mpg higher and a get a little more torque on the bottom end.

I have heard of this I think on solaraguy.com where somebody had done enough research on retrofitting a 1st gen Solara, bu the project ended up being 3MZFE-1MZFE hybrid instead of an electric hybrid, which was too cost prohibitive and wouldn't have generated the right benefits of a hybrid.
If you want to pick up more mpg and more lower torque, I am currently testing this https://www.sawyertuning.com/product...ogrammer-30hp/
Sawyer and another company called Volo Performance are the only two companies I have found out that actually make an OBD2 chip that works. I had a friend with a Kia try it and they already gained in the lower end and added 2 mpg. I hope to have a full report in a few weeks, but already have felt a kick on the lower end.
