Default RX300 replace ECU with used one

I have a 2000 RX 300 with a bad ECU. Would hooking up a used one with the wrong VIN work if the immobilizer data was erased by the seller? Any negative effects on the other modules?

I would suggest matching the ecu to the vehicle you have AWD/FWD and potentially the year (year matching is not essential).

Consult with dealership, but as I understand the ecu needs the currently registered Master key (from the seller). This may require your ignition key to be operated with the registered key ... you may have to re-key (change the tumblers inside). There may be a work around,, but I would suggest that you get 2 master keys and the cylinders [ignition key, 2 door locks and one trunk/hatch) from the seller.

I did match an alternate part number. The one I took out was a Denso refurbished so I don't know what exact part came out of the vehicle, but I did match the same AWD/Auto / 1MZFE engine. The one I got was a interchange part number so it should work just fine. My concern is if having a ECU with a VIN that didn't match other modules would somehow damage the other modules. I doubt it but just asking. I;ll have to program the keys through the process steps I have now.

Thanks

Just be aware that the registered master key may need to be inserted in the ignition switch and should be able to turn the switch. Verify or obtain the cylinder from the seller.

I am not sure where the ODO is kept (same ecu or the other) so remember to log the milage before the switch.
