Default Scratched dashboard...

I'm certain something must have been posted around this, but my search came up empty...

Basically, I left my dog in the back of my RX with the two rear seats folded down. When I was gone, she decided to jump into the front seat. Long story short, another dog walked by really close to my truck, and now, I've got some scratches on the passenger side dash (just around the edge of the airbag panel).

So, I'm wondering if any of you guys know of a product that can help repair the damage. Scratches aren't too deep, but they're pretty long. Interior is grey.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is your scratch in the plastic?

If so, a dealer told me there is no fix for even light scratches in the plastic which I find scratches VERY disappointingly easily to reveal a light color in contrast to the original color.

In my opinion, Lexus needs to find a fix for this problem, interiors will look a lot neater and like new with these simple scratches repaired.

Although it won't fix the scratch you could try to apply some conditioning product such as Vinylex. This will at least make the scratches less noticeable.

I'll try the Vinylex and hope it at least hides it...thanks for the suggestion.

The scratches aren't on the plastic, but rather, on the top of the dash (right where the passengers SRS airbag would normally blow out). I know what you mean though about all the plastic getting scratched really easily...especially the cup holders

Purdy99, yes my plastic scratches easily and I am surprised that Lexus uses such a plastic that is apparently permanently discolored. My car had plastic scratches that turned whitish and no matter what I put on them they stay annoyingly whitish. Does this mean the coloration is superficial and not universally applied throughout the plastic or probably more likely is this caused by a decolorization of the plastic at the molecular level?

Does anyone know of a fix for the scratches?

I have a black interior and I had good luck using a black fine point Sharpie pen (with permanent ink). I had a fairly deep scratch in the glove box door and the Sharpie "fix" has held up for several months.

I think the "real" solution is to find if touch up paint lacquer can be used on the plastic dashboard surface and find a good match and wet sand it into the surface.

I had a BMW that had scratches on the vinyl trim on door. The dealer arranged for repair and it looked good. There are service people that can do vinyl and upholstery repair. Look in YP.

Well, someone scratched the plastic on the rear door arm rest, maybe just with a watch band who knows. The plastic is so soft it scratches with the lightest touch and I can't find any way of repairing it.
