Smile pcv threads no threads

HI All,
I've been reading these posts for months. I just bought a super clean 2001 RX300 with 148K miles that needs some attention. Being mechanically enabled with a desire to drive this car for another 100K miles, I'm replacing a lot of parts and taking steps for preventative maintenance.

My question today is about PCV. I've purchased two fairly clean used valve covers that came off of a 2003 Rx300 - that's what the recycle yard sold them as. At first glance, the front one looks like it's a perfect match. The rear one, however, is a bit different when it comes to the shape of the valve cover where the pcv is located.
Question 1: Did I buy the correct "improved" valve covers? i.e. replace my 2001 valve covers with 2003 valve covers?

On my 2001 (still on the car) I can see the pcvalve screws in at a 90 degree angle. I know it screws in because the top half of it looks identical to one of the new pcv I bought which has threads.
On the 2003 valve cover that arrived today, the angle the pcv goes into the valve cover is about 45 degrees, and it has no threads at all - just hole.

At the moment, I have two new pcv from the auto parts store - one has threads one no threads. My thought was to take one back that wasn't right. However, both of them don't work with the valve cover I just received. The pcv with threads won't screw into a hole in the VC that has no threads, and the pcv without threads is too small to fit snugly into the large hole in the valve cover.

Question 2: Is there supposed to be some sort of grommet I don't have yet to accommodate the no-threads pcv? If so, part number for this?

The end goal here is to throw a mess of parts at the car with the view to: 1) drive for 100K miles more. 2) solve engine oil burning issue. I'm ok throwing parts at the car.

The new valve covers are currently sitting in a pan of kerosene to make sure they're super clean when I put them on the car.

Thank you all!

if it has no threads, they sold you a v1 rear valve cover with the push in style plastic pcv valve.

Ok........just came back from the auto parts store. Here's my current situation and a question:

OFF the car waiting in the garage - rear valve cover with grommet and push-in pcv at 45 degree angle
ON the car - rear valve cover with the screw-in pcv at 90 degree angle

Which is the "improvement" valve cover? Off or On the car?

the 2001 rear valve cover is the version 2 cover...its an improvement over the push-in style pcv. If you want an improvement over your existing cover, you want the version 3 style aka RX330 valve cover. Look at post 14 of this thread to see the differences in the baffle locations. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...in-intake.html

For more detailed discussion of the rear valve cover designs, read through this https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...e-cover-4.html
