I have searched several times and found conflicting instructions on this procedure. I'm trying to read the ABS trouble codes and also clear the stored codes. I know I have to short the Cg and Tc pins on the OBD-ll connector. One set of instructions said that would be pins 4 and 13 and another said 4 and 14.

Also some instructions call for tapping the the brake several times within 8 seconds while others say to short between the to pins within 8 seconds.

Also the instructions for a '99 are different for my 2002 because I don't have a diagnostic connector under the hood on the passenger side.

I'm trying to narrow down the VSC and ABS lights problem without the CEL light. I have already gone around and cleaned all the wheel sensors and checked the rings. I replaced one axle a while back because of a broken ring and recently replaced a wheel sensor the I broke trying to get it out. Everything should be good now.

One of the most important thing about ABS is how good is the 12v supply. Make sure you have a fully charged battery and have a parts store test of ac (ripple) being produced by the alternator. As time goes bye and you subject your alternator to bad battery, the diodes keep burning out and you get too much ripple and that causes spikes in the circuitry and you get ABS warning light.

I went through a controller board, abs actuator before realizing I need to change the rectifier set in the alternator ... and it all started after a battery went bad on me (dead cell).

OK I will look into that. But I still will need to clear the lights. I do remember seeing the slip light come on just before the VSC and ABS lights stayed on.

Light will go off if you disconnect the battery for about 20 mins .. you will loose all settings and stored codes.

I don't know if the procedure is the same but the DLC1 connector is on the driver side, by the master cylinder. See:

Ya I don't have one on the drivers side either.

I have DLC3 which is the OBD-ll conector down by your left knee inside
