My 2001 RX300 only likes Chevron with Techron. If I use another brand the Check engine light comes on. Recently, most of the Chevron stations here where I live, have switched over to Shell. My RX300 doesn't like Shell gas. In fact, my RX300 runs much better on Chevron. I have to drive 6 miles to a Chevron station and I believe it is the only one left.
I have a remanufactured engine with the improved valve covers.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

I am a big fan of Chevron gas as well. If you do not have easy access to a Chevron station, try adding a little Techron to each tank. I remember reading somewhere that the Techron concentration in their gas is about 10% of the amount when a 12 oz bottle is added to a tank, so add 1-2 oz of Techron per tank of Shell gas to mimic that. BTW, my next favorite gas brand is BP.

Are the two sources of gas the same octane? This sounds really weird - never heard a reproducible case of this before.
