Unhappy 1999 RX 300 VVT problem

I have a 99 RX 300 with 315k. I was getting intermittent p1354 vvt bank 2 malfunction. I went on the forum and found out I should check and clean the OCV filter for Bank 2 first and sure enough it was clogged up so after cleaning and reinstalling i decided to remove and clean the VVT while I had the access, bad idea. I removed the 10 mm with no trouble but the solenoid was stiff and would not move but with twisting and prying it came out, but oops! only half of it came out. Now I am stuck, all attempts to remove what is inside the head will not budge.....any suggestions? See pictures attached.

have you tried levering it out with a screwdriver? Or run a bolt into it and use pliers to pull it out. Whats holding it in is the rubber o ring right at the opening. Hit the o ring with wd40 and wiggle and twist it. It will come out. There is nothing down lower to hold it in.

Drcoffee, thanks for the suggestions, tried the WD40 a couple of times, no joy, I tried installing a bolt but 3/8 to small and 1/2 " to big, need to pick up a 7/16.
After the rain lets up I'm going to try the screwdriver idea you suggested. It appears the plastic bonded to the head as you can see in the picture. I have tried to chisel under it to see if that will loosen it up but I'm afraid I might destroy it and the inner piece will fall in, could it?

Thanks Salim, I tried that yesterday, the largest I was able to find at the big box stores was a #5 , It could not get a good bite, I will need to find a #6.

Long lag bolt. Once you get a bite, dont try to flare it as it will be more difficult to pull out. Then clamp a vice grip on the bolt shank and persuade with hammer blows on the vice grip to pull it up.
In the mean time order new O rings.

O ring for the other valve. If you are cleaning the basket filters, then you need O rings for those. Remember the screen (basket filters) only go one way.

,Good news, finally got the VVT bank 2 solenoid removed, tried long lag bolt but not enough bit. The #6 extractor was too big so went back to #5 and hammered it in to get a good bit with little room to spare, it worked! Replaced and test drove with huge success. Thanks go out to Salim and others who offered advice and encouragement. JN
